An exciting vineyard between the tiny hamlet of Malagas and Cape Infanta, at the mouth of the Breede Called Sijnn by the original Khoisan inhabitants.

Perched on a plateau of slate and rolled stones, about 15km from the southern oceans of Africa.

Our Sijnn long tables are back!!!

Join us in Malgas for our September Long Table on Sat, 26 September exploring the Mediterranean varieties that thrive in our stony soils.

This month we are doing things a little differently - starting with a walk amongst the vines before heading into the cellar to taste our white varieties individually, straight from the barrel.

We will then go back to 2013, tasting Syrah, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Amarela, Mourvedre and Cabernet Sauvignon individually, before bringing it all together with the Sijnn Red Blend 2013.

We will finish the afternoon with a light lunch, a glass of Sijnn wine, dessert & coffee.

Our White 2025, Red 2024 and Low Profile will be released in March next year, but you wont have to wait quite as long for the Chenin Blanc 2025, which will be released soon.

An early start in Malgas. 🌱

Budbreak, one of the first important stages in the vine's cycle. After lying dormant through Winter, the buds begin to open, pushing out the tiny new shoots and leaves.

Our Viognier shoots are already around 3 - 5cm, while some of our Chenin Blanc in block 32 and 33 is 5 - 7cm. Budbreak is looking remarkably even across the vineyards.

We are around 2 - 3 weeks ahead of last season.

Still a long season ahead, but an interesting start to the 2027 vintage. 🍇

Last Thursday, we hosted a small, intimate tasting and dinner at De Trafford, revisiting some of the Sijnn wines recently tasted and scored by Tamlyn Currin of JancisRobinson.com

As we tasted each wine, David read Tamlyn's notes - and it was fascinating to taste the wines alongside her observations.

We have now made these wines available online so you can do the same exercise at home. (tasting notes will be sent to you).

A few months ago, David hosted a special tasting of Sijnn wines for members of the UK wine trade and wine writers in London.

Among the guests was Tamlyn Currin of JancisRobinson.com, one of the world's most respected wine critics. Following the tasting, she published detailed tasting notes and scores on everything from our current releases to some of our oldest library vintages.

Next Thursday, we are bringing some of those wines together for a special tasting and dinner at De Trafford Wines in Stellenbosch.

We will taste a selection of Sijnn wines, compare our own impressions with Tamlyn's notes and enjoy a delicious meal thereafter.

Today we are celebrating our very own Isaac.

Isaac has been part of the Sijnn family since 2014, joining us when the cellar was built 12 years ago. Since then, he has become an integral part of life on the farm.

Whether he's working in the cellar, out in the vineyards, behind the wheel of a tractor, or lending a hand wherever is needed, Isaac's hard work, loyalty and commitment have been an important part of the Sijnn story.
