An update on our BIO-WHEAT Babies🚜🌾πŸ₯–

We couldn’t be prouder of the incredible strides being made on the education front! 🀩

✨ Sarah Lee, daughter of our front man Danny, successfully completed her matric in 2025 and is now pursuing a diploma in Foundation Phase Education.
✨ John Lee, Danny's son, has progressed to his third year of B.Ed studies at UWC.
✨ Patricia continues to rise above all odds, now in her third year at Stellenbosch, working towards qualifying as a Physiotherapist.
✨ Christoff has completed his B.Com in Marketing & Business Management and recently joined Karoo Ford to further sharpen his business skills.

At GOLDEN REEF MILLING, we firmly believe that investing in education yields the greatest return.

An Ode to Bread

O bread, of simple substance, yet profound,
The humble stuff from which all life is crowned.
From golden fields where heavy kernels sleep,
To patient hands that knead and fold and keep.

First flour dust on fingers, soft and white,
The bubbling yeast, a living, rising might.
Then water drawn from earth's most ancient well,
And salt, a taste of ocean, and its spell.

Into a formless lump, and then a sphere,
You grow and swell, a promise held so dear.
Awaiting fire, the deep and primal heat,
To make your journey wonderfully complete.

The waiting ends, the oven's mouth does yield
A fragrant warmth that fills the kitchen field.
A crust of gold, a heart of tender white,
A miracle, a comfort, and a light.

From peasant's table to a king's high feast,
You offer solace, never once the least.
You soak the gravy, cradle butter's grace,
And wipe the plate clean in a hungry space.

You are the staff of life, the daily need,

Heinie Fourie Somewhere on a farm in the Overberg a farmer is doing his Sunday rounds; routinely checking ons his crops and water for his flock.
In silence he gazes at the horizon, looks up to the mountains.
It needs to rain.
Just like so many other farmers in our region, he is hoping and praying that the floodgates of heaven will open tomorrow...

BIO-WHEAT has proudly been part of this amazing educational initiative for more than 10 years now.
Not only do we get to be part of amazing events like "A Night @ Leeuwenhof" 🀩, but most importantly, The ShowCook Inter Hotel Challenge affords us the opportunity to be part of a journey that shapes the lives of so many young bakers and chefs, many of them from disadvantaged backgrounds. Here at BIO-WHEAT we are invested in educating the future generation in the hospitality industry, with this industry being such an important section of tourism; a vital part of SA's economy.
All the sponsors involved in this initiative are committed to the traceability of and ethics behind their products. We want these young chefs to understand the importance of sourcing responsible and traceable food products.
So many committed sponsors and mentors in the food and beverage industries involved.
