*Port-style wine series: video 5*

The first featured port-style wine in the range is the De Krans Cape Pink. Did you know De Krans produced the first Pink Port in South Africa in 2008? This wine is delicious in winter but also great in Summer as a lighter style port, perfect to use as a cocktail mixer.

Port-style wine series *video 4*

What's in a name? Are we still allowed to call in "port" in South Africa? If not, is it still made in the same style and from the same grapes? Our winemaker, Christoff, explains. 🍷

Winter afternoons in the Karoo call for something deep and grounding.

A glimpse into a sensory afternoon spent in collaboration with De Krans Wines - where heritage meets the quiet chill of the season. The sharpness of the Montagu air finds its counterpoint in rich, slow-poured warmth.
Pour a glass, watch the shadows lengthen, and warm up from the inside out.

Have you visited the Douro valley in Portugal? Although much bigger than Calitzdorp, the similarities between the two terroirs are undeniable. De Krans port-style wines are made from portuguese grape varietals planted on the farm such as Touriga Nacional and Tinta Barocca. You even get white portuguese varietals such as Verdelho - one of our delicious, dry white wines available as well.

In the second video of our port series, Christoff explains the short and sweet difference between a wine and a port-style wine. Did you know the difference?
