Kleiheuwel Trust’s wool was sold on auction today 03 December 2025, carrying a story shaped by both nature and dedication.
-
With over half of the farm preserved as a private nature reserve, farming in harmony with the environment is central to their philosophy. Yet recent seasons have tested even the most resilient producers. Two years of flooding followed by a year of drought have pushed rainfall to just 45 percent of their long-term average.
-
Those floods delivered beautifully clean wool last season. This year’s dry conditions brought a smaller harvest, yet it produced some of the finest fibres the farm has ever offered.
-
On catalogue 15/25, their standout lot tested an extraordinary 14.1 micron, proving the strength and adaptability of their merino flock. Behind the scenes, each sheep is individually tested and classed with precision, ensuring only the best reaches the bale.
-
Despite the challenges that keep any farmer awake at night, the reward is clear in the wool shed.

Privileged to have such fantastic neighbors. Those to the east cut some "urgent" oats for us and those to the south helped cart and wrap them for us.

We helped cart their silage and will help with their harvesting.

This year has been extremely challenging for all of us but everyone is still willing to lend a hand when and where needed.

Thank you to all our wonderful Vlakte Families
