Today was extra special at Neighborhood Farm! 💛🍼🌱

We celebrated our first-ever Neighborhood Farm baby shower for our wonderful Perlite, who is now officially heading off on maternity leave as she prepares to welcome her little one into the world. 🥰

Thank you, Perlite, for all the love, dedication and incredible work you’ve given our farm and our family over the years. We love and appreciate you more than words can say! ❤️

Enjoy this beautiful new chapter, Mama — we can’t wait to meet the little one, and we can’t wait to have you back! 🌻👶🏽💚

Why Organic - Why is organic always seen as the ideal?
Why is it so expensive to buy?

Farmer Brian answered this and more this weekend at his agroecology workshop, held at the Neighbourhood Farm in Fish Hoek, Cape Town.

The bottom line is that if you grow your own organic veg it’s much cheaper, healthier and saves on the pollution effects of transport. And of course it’s not as difficult as you may think!

There are of course many other reasons to grow organic but my biggest take away - was to start slowly and always break your spinach leaves off at the root!

🌱 **Meet the Team Behind Our Edible Education Programme** 🌱

This week, we're shining a light on the incredible Erika Harvey – the heart behind our Edible Education Programme at Neighbourhood Farm.

With over 25 years of teaching experience, Erika is the Lead Facilitator and Project Head who thoughtfully designs every workshop, creating meaningful, hands-on learning experiences that inspire every young person who visits our farm. From seed to harvest, she brings her wealth of knowledge, passion, and care to each two-hour session, helping children connect with food, nature, and one another.

Erika has been a guiding force for our programme, and her unwavering dedication to the farm and the thousands of young people who have walked through our fields has left a lasting impact. We are incredibly grateful for the time, energy, and heart she continues to pour into this work.

Thank you, Erika, for helping grow not only gardens, but confident, curious, and connected young people. 💚🌿
