🌱 Today was more than a farm visit — it was the beginning of a beautiful partnership. 💚

A heartfelt thank you to Zakhele from the Department of Agriculture for bringing these wonderful men and women from Khayelitsha to Neighbourhood Farm today. We are truly grateful for the opportunity to connect, learn from one another, and begin what we believe will be a meaningful and lasting journey together.
As passionate organic growers, they are working hard to produce healthy, nutrient-dense food and are looking for ways to connect their produce with the markets and communities that value it most.

At Neighbourhood Farm, we believe that growing food is about so much more than planting seeds. It's about sharing knowledge, opening doors, supporting one another, and building a stronger local food system together. 🤝🌿
Today they came, they saw, they asked questions, and they shared their own experiences. Next week, we will visit them to learn even more and explore how we can help each other grow — because collaboration is at the heart of everything we do.

This is only the beginning of what promises to be a long and meaningful journey together. We are proud to stand alongside these amazing men and women as we work towards a future where organic, locally grown produce reaches the hands of the people who deserve it most. 🌍🥬🍅

A huge thank you to Sian for volunteering her time in the garden with our wonderful ladies at Neighbourhood Farm last week. 🌱💚

It was truly beautiful to see everyone getting along so naturally, sharing knowledge, exchanging stories, and learning from one another. Moments like these remind us that a garden grows much more than food—it grows community, friendship, and connection.

Thank you, Sian, for bringing your energy, kindness, and passion to the farm. We loved having you with us and can't wait to have you grace our garden with your presence once again.

Over the years, Brian has brought so much more than his passion for growing. From his endless knowledge and practical advice to the weird and wonderful energy he shares so generously, he has helped make our farm the vibrant and welcoming space it is today. We're also grateful for the beautiful people he brings together and the positive vibes he spreads wherever he goes. 🌱💚

Brian also hosts workshops on weekends for anyone interested in learning more about growing, gardening, and sustainable living.

Meet the hearts behind the Edible Education journey at Neighbourhood Farm🌱

✨ Erika Harvey – our Lead Facilitator and Programme Developer, helping shape meaningful, hands-on learning experiences that reconnect children with food, nature, and the soil beneath their feet.

🎨 Vanessa – part of our Creative Design Team and the brilliant mind behind our puppet shows for younger groups, bringing learning to life through storytelling, imagination, and play.

🌿 Sibs Boyce – our Edible Education Liaison Officer and Co-Presenter, building connections between the farm, the community, and the next generation of growers and change makers.

Together, we’re creating spaces where education becomes interactive, joyful, and rooted in real experiences with food and regenerative farming.

From seed to harvest, every lesson is grown with purpose. 🌾

A heartfelt thank you to the wonderful learners and teachers from for joining us for another beautiful autumn winter workshop in the garden. 🐝💚

It was such a joy watching the busy bees explore, learn, and connect with nature through all five senses — touching, smelling, tasting, seeing, and experiencing the magic of fresh vegetables growing straight from the soil. 🌿🥕

From planting their own seedlings to take home, to answering questions with confidence and curiosity, the children brought so much energy, brightness, and laughter into the garden and classroom.

These young minds are the future leaders of South Africa, and it’s inspiring to see them learning, growing, and expressing themselves through hands-on edible education. 🌍🌱
