Precious Treats - Brigadeiros Brigadeiros are a Brazillian chocolate truffle covered in various toppings. Its original ingredients consisted of milk, eggs, sugar and chocolate.

The Brigadeiro originated in the 1940’s and there are many versions about its origin. One version tells of ladies in Rio de Janeiro who found a way of using the supplies available to create a sweet dessert. At the time Brigadier Eduardo Gomes was running for presidency and he was such a handsome lad, the dessert was so popular they used it as a fundraiser for his campaign. Another tells of a woman

who supported the brigadier ‘Gomes’ and adjusted the original recipe. People would make it invite friend and family over to enjoy the ‘treat of the brigadier’
This treat is a big part of Brazilian culture, im not Brazilian but when I made this for the first time it felt like a carnival in my mouth. This being said I would like South Africa to enjoy this gourmet treat.
