How it all started
The Block Trading t/a The Block Fine Meats was started by three friends in January 2018. The trio met through their love of riding motorcycles and quickly discovered that they have a lot more in common than the excitement their bikes have to offer.
Fransois De Jager has been working his magic behind his knife for over 30 years and after working for long term industry suppliers, joined up with fellow businessmen Albie Bester and Mario Ainslie to start The Block.
“The Block was formed out of our passion to perfect the art of producing the ultimate meat products for the end user. Together we source the best quality meat , spices and ingredients needed to perfect the production process. Our products will be consistent in texture, tenderness and taste as we stick to our suppliers like our spice sticks to our biltong. Our dedication to fine meat excellence does not end with the recipe alone, our hygiene, packaging and presentation get the same affection from the beginning of production to the shelve. We take pride in what we create and don’t do shortcuts, because we are our own customers.” - the trio
