Welcome to the world of Thank Goodness
It’s all in a name. It’s a bit tongue n cheek, it’s perhaps an incy wincy bit cheesy, but Thank Goodness alludes playfully to our food and life philosophy:
Gratitude. Yeah we know its bandied about these days, but we really do know that thankfulness in life is where it’s all at. “Look for the good, because the good is always there.” Said Rumi. And we strive hard to live by these wise words, grateful for all that we have and are able to do and be - we like to see our delicious healthy edibles as part of this sharing. And wholesome tasty natural goodness on a plate, in a cup, on a fork is what you can expect and what we do. We formalized our innate talents, accumulated knowledge and passion of ours into this business late 2014 when we realized the great demand and niche for what we do naturally all of the time – especially delicious food that your body loves, prepared with love. Long in our DNA?
“All illnesses begins in the gut” said our Father, TCM practitioner and Homeopath. We were brought up to see food as celebration and food as medicine. Around the table was a place of healing as well as delight. Growing up we took for granted that ingredients were always organic, vegetables and fruits were plucked straight from the kitchen garden or orchid and eggs collected from the hens in the nook of the garden. We had no idea how ahead our parents were when subjugating us to daily shots of wheatgrass, freshly pressed beetroot juices with a dash of lemon, alfalfa & mung bean sprout salads, kombucha teas, kefir ‘special yogurt’ drinks, bee pollen sprinkles & royal jelly capsules ( to mention a few of the superfood mandatory concoctions we begrudgingly took as tots )
Yes we were the weirdo kids who’s parents dished up hibiscus agar-agar jelly at our birthday parties in place of the artificially bright and shiny stuff that we had so wished for and our lunch boxes were packed with natural licorice, nuts ‘n seeds in lieu of walkers crisps ( lays to the SA’s ) and a milky way. Back then we looked at them with longing but boy how grateful are we now for the early education we and our taste buds were given in good food nutrition. When our peers were pulling out shop-bought sliced white bread sandwiches, neatly spread with jam ‘n marg. Complete with crusts cut off, we were sheepishly unwrapping obviously homemade sourdough black bread ones, filled with pungent garlicky hummus. Amazingly and thankfully all these healthy goodies have now become the norm, but back in the late 80’s they sure weren’t! Many health and food trends that the world is just catching onto, we’ve been fortunate enough to know as long as we can remember.
