We are Cape Town's one and only Pop Up English Tea Garden operating permanently from the V&A Food Market, seven days a week. Every Saturday you can also find us at The Oranjezicht City Farm Market at Granger Bay and throughout the summer months we operate from the Kirstenbosch Craft Market which is on every last Sunday of the month. We only stock homemade products from our kitchen and a few suppli
ers we know incredibly well! We are well known for our exceptionally beautiful Macarons and Nougat made especially for us by Daniela’s, our Brownies and Biscotti Bites made for us by La Petite Moo and our beautifully decorated children’s biscuits. We also stock Juice Box Seasonal fruit juices. And of course, not forgetting our signature dish, Lucy’s English Cream Tea, served only in Fine Bone China using genuine Clotted Cream. If this is your first Cream Tea, don’t be surprised by the ‘Clotted Cream’s’ treacle consistency, yellow colour and thick crust, very different to the best of double creams. These are the three tell-tale signs of genuine ‘Clotted Cream’ which is achieved by heating the high-fat cream from Jersey breed cows, allowing the cream to float to the top and clot. There are two regional variations to a genuine English Cream Tea. If you cut your scone and spread the cream first followed by the jam, you are eating it the Devonshire way. If you spread the jam first, then the cream you are eating it the Cornish way. We prefer to serve the Cornish Way! Many customers ask why we don’t use butter first too, believe me there is enough butter in our scone! Cream Teas for 4 or 8 people are also available for takeaway, a perfect gift or picnic treat. Our Clotted Cream comes from a herd of particularly content Jersey cows who roam freely in the beautiful Dassiehoek Valley, near Robertson. Our Raw Milk, Yoghurt, Pouring and Double Cream is all available to order. We receive weekly deliveries from Robertson.
