Every fibre on this piña says something about where it grew. Drought, extreme UV, salt-crusted ancient seabed soil, the same stress that turns the leaves of the wild agave red is what concentrates the sugars and flavour inside it. Nothing about this spirit was grown the easy way.

This soil was seabed 500 million years ago. Ancient marine sediment, minerals, and salt, and it’s exactly what gives Inzalo its signature saline finish.

Inzalo Batch One Agave Spirit won Gold at the 2026 International Wine & Spirit Competition, scoring 96 points, the highest score outside this year’s mezcal sweep.

Here’s what the IWSC judges said about it: “A creamy palate layered with minerality, chocolate, spice and fresh anise, culminating in a long mouthwatering finish.”

96 points. The highest score outside this year's mezcal sweep at the 2026 International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC).

As featured in Forbes, Inzalo was named the closest challenger to this year's mezcal category winners, recognition for a spirit built from wild "Red Agave," grown in soil that was once the ocean floor, and made in small batches in the heart of the Klein Karoo.

Full Forbes featured our pinned comment. Though the article defines us as a tequila, we're not a tequila nor a mezcal. We're 100% agave spirit made from wild "red agave" outside the tequila-producing region.
