Chartwell Breweries began its journey with the acquisition of the old Misty Meadows Craft Brewery & Distillery which was founded in 2009, located in one of the most picturesque valleys within the Garden Route and is situated at the foothills of the Outeniqua Mountains and home to the Jackal Buzzard.
Every great craft beer has their own signature ingredients. Ours, the “Outeniqua Aroma Hops,” is grown in the midst of the Outeniqua Mountains and together with the “Cape Barley”, are used in the brewing process to produce the Unique Crisp Aroma’s & Citrus flavours of the “Buzzard” Craft Beer Range - designed by one of South Africa’s top Craft Master Brewers & Distillers, Moritz Kallmeyer.
The future is looking bright too.
In 2018, the Chartwell Brewery is to open its new-found doors at The Stables Village Centre, Chartwell Fourways. This process has taken over a year of refurbishment, equipment customization and fitting out to ensure this handcrafted tradition lives on.
The Chartwell Brewery & Distillery will soon be open to the Public. Be sure to come and enjoy this hand-crafted brewing experience and try out the unique flavours of the Buzzard Craft Beer Range.
For the beer loving, draft guzzling enthusiasts, our Blue Gum Bar is being designed especially for you. Chartwell Brewery is also launching a Beer Tour and Tasting, to arouse your taste buds with the taste of real craft beer. With its launch on the horizon, be sure to follow our social media handles to be the first to hear about its launch.
