Gert and Isabell Terblanche have set a remarkable benchmark for excellence in the 2025 Overberg Jong Ooi Club project, demonstrating outstanding performance and consistency throughout the season.

Gert Terblanche was named the overall winner of the season, achieving the highest margin and the highest reproduction income across all participating groups. He was also awarded for the best visual classed group, highlighting consistent quality across his flock.

The Overberg Jong Ooi Club project challenges producers annually to enter a group of 10 young ewes. These animals are monitored from weaning stage through to weaning their first lambs, with detailed data collected on wool production, visual classing, and reproductive performance.

Gertβs results reflect exceptional management and genetics:
14 foetuses scanned, 14 lambs born, and all 14 successfully weaned, delivering a 100% survival rate. His ewes weaned an average of 74.7% of their body weight in lamb, while producing wool at 5.7% of body weight over a 9 month growth period, with an impressive 16.7 micron average.
