'n Bul se waarde word nie net gemeet aan hoe hy lyk nie, maar ook aan die resultate wat hy lewer.

Hierdie seisoen het Optimus by 44 koeie geloop, en 42 van hulle is dragtig.

Sulke resultate gebeur nie per toeval nie. Dit is die gevolg van vrugbaarheid, funksionaliteit en aanpasbaarheid – eienskappe waarop ons ons Tuli-stoet bou.

Ons is baie beïndruk met sy prestasie en die manier waarop hy sy kondisie deur die dekseisoen behou het.

Ons sien met groot afwagting uit na die kalwers wat op pad is!

Soos ons deur die seisoen ons troppe van kamp na kamp skuif, maak ons seker dat elke stukkie grond en weiding optimaal benut word. Intussen geniet ons hierdie mooi dae op die plaas met gesonde diere, warm son en mooi veld!

What happens when Foot-and-Mouth Disease reaches your herd?
It's a question no farmer wants to answer but one we believe is worth sharing.

Thanks to early intervention, supportive care, strong genetics and the guidance of our state veterinary team, our herd recovered with no mortalities and went on to achieve a 95% conception rate in the following breeding season.

Every outbreak is different, but by sharing our timeline, what we observed and what we learned, we hope it gives other farmers a clearer idea of what to expect and confidence that recovery is possible.

Body Condition Scoring (BCS) is a practical tool used to assess fat reserves and overall condition in cattle. It gives insight into nutrition, fertility, health and how well an animal is coping with its environment.

But knowing when to score is just as important as knowing the scores themselves.

𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐞:

𝗖𝗮𝗹𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴
Cows should be in optimal condition (BCS 5–6).
Too fat can cause calving problems, while too thin reduces milk production and delays conception.

𝗪𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 (𝗱𝗿𝘆 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗱)
The most cost-effective time to improve condition as cows recover after weaning.

Critical for fertility - cows in good condition have higher conception rates.
