Pine Grove Merino Stud

Pine Grove Merino Stud Adaptable, Reliable, Profitable The Pine Grove Merino Stud dates back to 1882, when founder, Mr E. F. E. Cloete started farming in the Dordrecht district.

Only ewes that stood up to the severe climate were selected and added to the ram breeding ewes, and from 1909 the stud was kept severely on its own and further improvement was affected by the rigorous culling. My grandfather, Toby Cloete, registered the stud in 1941. From 1910 to 1978, only pure Minnaar rams were used in the stud. In 1992, the original Pine Grove stud was split into 3 separate stu

ds and my Dad, Henry , and i continued with the current Pine Grove Stud. In 2016 my son David, joined me on the farm. It was only from the 1980's, that it was decided to open the gene pool of the stud, and today I have a policy of using only the best genes available to me, provided the background of the stud is stable and the right type of sheep.
