PROMOTING ONE-VILLAGE-ONE-PRODUCT PROGRAMME WITH LEMONGRASS
Lemongrass, also called fever grass, is a perennial plant with thin, long leaves, although indigenous to many Asian countries, is now becoming a regular feature in many multicropping sites in small villages in the South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, as propagated and promoted by SK Agricare Model Farm coordinators.
SK Agricare has secured a steady market for Lemongrass while also empowering small scale farmers in its production. SK Agricare is of the view that promotion of OVOP (One-Village-One-Product) programme will benefit small scale farmers immensely because markets and end-users alike are on a mission to ensuring optimum health benefits through healthy soils and chemical-free environment, which SK Agricare is all about.
