Our Story

‘Build it and they will come’ pretty much sums up the leap of faith that John & Claire Watson took when leaving Joburg in 2011 and moving to a family owned farm in the Dullstroom Countryside.

Standing on a hill above gorgeous stone ‘Trek Boer’ ruins, they discovered the perfect place to build The Red Barn. But what they’ve created is far more than just a place to hold a wedding reception.

The festivities are usually kicked off with a Friday evening bring & braai at The Stables. Guests sit around the bonfire with a sparkling trout dam below them and the Red Barn in the distance, part of the country landscape. New friends are made and guests leave looking forward to continuing the following day.
