Love it or hate a is a much lovec South African dessert that not only features during Christmas but at most family gathering.

The reason most people do not like Trifle in my opinion is because it gets all mushy and looks like a hot mess.I am not one for making desserts but a few weeks ago I had a craving for Trifle. But I had never made 1 before so I had to do some research. In that time sent over some of their Vegan Jelly which is sugar free so I was keen to try it out.Watch this space for a giveaway.

Rocky Road Trifle :
Ingredients
1 shop bought Madiera loaf - Pick nPay
1 sachet strawberry Frootys jelly
200ml Long life fresh cream - a staple in my kitchen and no need to whisk it as it is very thick
1 tin sliced peaches
1 litre pouring custard - shop bought

Toppings
chopped almonds
salted caramel nuts
grated white choc
Chuckles from Woolies cut in half
Sprinkles

Method :
1.I used these to make 4 trifles.
2.Slice the cake in the finger slices place in glass dish with a lid.Pour over liquid jelly into the sponge and top the sugar syrup from peaches.
3.Cover the cake and jelly with custard.Sprinkle over chopped nuts and set peach slices around the edge of dish.
4.Pour fresh cream over and top with chopped peaches and nuts.
5.Leave to set over night.
6.Before serving garnish with all sorts of yum.

Tips :
1.Using shop bought cake and custard cuts down prep time.
2.Tinned fruit cocktail can be used.
3.Grab a few woolies long life fresh cream it is a game changer in your cooking.
4.Top with all your fav candy.

So the big question are you a trifle fan yay or nay ?

Growing up this was the i wanted as a kid.But as we had a huge extended family and everyone was invited to the birthday of the eldest great grandchild I could never have this cake based on the fact that it would not be able to feed everyone.

So during Covid we got talking about birthdays as kids and I mentioned to my group of friends and forget about it totally.
Fast Forward my next birthday ,I got home from work then a call from to ask if I was home as she was popping in.
AND Kam arrived with this beautiful cake the one my childhood dreamt off.Without Kam knowing she healed a part of my inner child and fulfilled a dream.

So yes dreams can come true .... And most importantly the art of listening is an important skill.

Nothing goes to waste ! I had some leftover Mushrooms that I had panfried with onions ,peppers and potato seasoned with my veggie seasoning. This was quickly turned into a breakfast with 4 eggs scrambled and a touch of Aromat.

I heated up the cooked mushrooms in a pan let them almost fry again before adding the whisked eggs and at the end a teaspoon of Butter Ghee and there was breakfast done :)

In many South African Indian homes for many many year Chicken Curry was prepared on Saturday for dinner.Normally a fresh cull or cornish curry with potatoes ,gadra ,double beans or peas. And as it gets colder or if someone at home is sick Marensulu or Birth Masala chicken curry is prepared.
