Maybe you're exhausted because you're looking for peace in places that were never designed to give it to you.

We do this all the time. We think more money will make us feel secure.

A relationship will make us feel loved. A thinner body will make us feel worthy. A bigger house will make us feel successful.

Another holiday, another purchase, another glass of wine, another scroll through Instagram, another little hit of pleasure...

And for a moment, we feel better.

Then the feeling disappears, so we go looking for the next thing.

Jesus gave us a radically different instruction: “Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness.” — Matthew 6:33

First.

Before the money.

Before the relationship.

Before the career.

Before the approval.

Before the pleasure.

Before trying to fix everybody else.

God.

And here's the beautiful thing about God's way: He isn't trying to deprive you of a good life. He knows what actually satisfies.

Psalm 16:11 says: “In your presence there is fullness of joy.”

Maybe the thing you've been desperately trying to find isn't another thing at all.

Maybe you've been looking in the wrong direction.

So here's your Tuesday challenge: Before you ask God to fix your circumstances, spend some time asking Him to reorder your priorities.

What has been getting your first attention?

What occupies your thoughts?

What do you run to when you're stressed?

What would you struggle to give up if God asked you to?

Bring that honestly to Him.

Then start seeking His Kingdom first.

God's way has a funny habit of making the things we thought we needed look very different.

Deuteronomy 8:18 says: "But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth."

I love this because it changes the way I think about work.

Yes, I have skills.

Yes, I work hard.

Yes, I write.

Yes, I cook.

Yes, I create.

But ultimately? Everything I have came from God.

The ability.

The opportunity.

The creativity.

The strength.

The relationships.

The ideas.

Even the capacity to work.

That's why I don't see tithing as God taking something away from me. It's an acknowledgement that it was never entirely mine to begin with.

Stewardship starts with remembering who the Provider actually is.

There's something beautiful about allowing one day to feel different.

Not necessarily perfect. Just slower.

We go to church. We eat something nice. We spend time together. We get outside.

We put down some of the noise. We remember what actually matters.

And by Monday, I'm usually far more ready to work because I wasn't trying to squeeze every last drop of productivity out of Sunday.

Maybe that's one of the reasons God built rhythms of work and rest into creation itself.

We aren't machines.

We were created for rhythm.

What is one thing you deliberately DON'T do on a Sunday?

I said "I'm sorry, babe, but I think my muffins flopped."

"Hmm-mm, they're nice when you get them out of the paper.."

He technically didn't lie, but when I ate mine, I knew that we had different perspectives. 🫣🤣

As I wrestled with the result of my evidently flopped new recipe, I decided to embrace it. 🤷🏼‍♀️ We can cry about the fact that things don't look or feel or function the way it should...

But if we look for something sweet in every situation, we'll enjoy a more flavourful life. ♥️ I'm happy to share my mistakes... We all make them, and hopefully, we learn. 🤣🤷🏼‍♀️

Happy Saturday 🌞🌴

You don't need to feel "in love" every day or feel constant butterflies...

Sometimes marriage is exciting. Sometimes it's hilarious. Sometimes it's deeply romantic.

And sometimes you're both tired and arguing about where someone left the scissors. 😂

That's not necessarily a bad marriage. That's life.

Love isn't measured by whether you feel swept off your feet every Tuesday. It's measured by what you choose when the feelings aren't doing the work.

You keep showing up.

You keep learning each other.

You keep forgiving.

You keep laughing.

You keep choosing the covenant.

And then, rather unexpectedly, you'll have one of those ordinary evenings where you look across the room and think:

"I really like this person."

I'll take that kind of love any day.

❤️

She's an absolute lady ♥️ Always makes sure she covers her tracks properly.

What you feed will eventually show.

You can tell yourself you're fine. You can go to church, post Bible verses, smile for the camera and carry on with your day.

But eventually, what's happening inside you starts coming out.

Jesus said: “For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” — Matthew 12:34. That means your words, reactions, attitudes, habits and desires are giving you clues about what's been filling your heart.

If you're constantly feeding yourself fear, gossip, outrage, comparison, lust, anxiety and everything the world is serving up, don't be surprised when your inner life starts looking like it.

And if you're filling yourself with God's Word, spending time with Him, asking for wisdom and actually applying what He teaches you, something else begins to grow.

Love. Joy. Peace. Patience. Kindness. Goodness. Faithfulness. Gentleness. Self-control.

Galatians 5:22–23 calls these the fruit of the Spirit.

So here's your Tuesday question: What have you been feeding?

Not what do you say you believe. What are you actually putting into your heart every day?

Today, open your Bible before you open social media.

Read something slowly.

Ask God, “Why is this here? What are You showing me? What needs to change in me?”

Then do something about the answer. You can't control everything that happens around you. You can be intentional about what you're planting within you.

“Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.” — Proverbs 4:23

Homemade basil pesto on macaroni and chicken breast marinated in authentic Waukesha peach chutney a friend blessed us with. I added some garlic and a couple of other magical flavours.

Cooking Tip: Don't throw away the liquid discard from making cream cheese... It's a wonderful meat tenderizer 👌🏼

People see the finished book. They don't see the manuscript covered in comments.

They see the polished website. They don't see the hours spent rewriting one paragraph seventeen times.

They see the published article. They don't see the research, editing, fact-checking and deadline panic.

😂

Freelancing has taught me that professional work is often invisible. That's okay.

The goal isn't to look busy. The goal is to produce something good.

There is dignity in doing careful work when nobody is watching. And sometimes that's the difference between being someone who says they're a professional and actually becoming one.
