What is El Niño, and why should homeowners care?

El Niño is a global weather pattern that often brings hotter, drier conditions to South Africa. That means:
💧 Less rainfall
💧 Lower dam levels
💧 Increased water restrictions
💧 Higher pressure on municipal supply

With water uncertainty becoming more common, more homeowners are investing in boreholes to secure their own water supply.

A borehole can help protect your home, garden, and lifestyle during drought conditions and water outages.

Don’t wait for restrictions to start.
Prepare before the next water crisis hits.

Scientists warn the world could face one of the strongest El Niño events on record as ocean temperatures continue to soar.

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has forecast warmer-than-usual conditions across most parts of the country during late autumn and winter, while above-normal rainfall is expected mainly along the southern and eastern coastal regions.

In its latest Seasonal Climate Watch, SAWS said the El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) is currently in a neutral state, but climate models suggest conditions could shift toward an El Niño phase in the coming months.
