The interesting thing about Ghost Corner is that it began with a w**emaker already deeply rooted somewhere else.

David Nieuwoudt is the fifth generation of his family at Dwarsrivier in the Cederberg. But in 2007, he created Ghost Corner around vineyards in Elim, working with an entirely different landscape, climate and set of growing conditions.

That decision gave him another expression of what he does best: understanding what the vineyard gives you, then letting that guide the w**e.

Nearly two decades later, that curiosity still sits at the heart of Ghost Corner.

There’s something about this time of year that makes sitting outside feel like a treat again.

A table in the sun, a few good plates to share, people you actually want to linger with and a chilled bottle of Ghost Corner The Bowline somewhere in the middle of it all.

Spring is looking pretty good from here.

The new season brings fresh shoots, new leaves and the first real signs of the growing season ahead.

Around bud break, our vineyard teams begin suckering, removing unnecessary shoots so the vine can direct its energy into the growth we want to carry forward.

In Elim, where strong winds are part of the growing conditions, those early decisions become especially important as the canopy starts to develop.

A new season starts with knowing what to keep.

You may have noticed the distinctive “G” on the Ghost Corner Syrah label, but it is more than just a design element.

It reflects the story behind the w**e, inspired by the historic trade route that passed the southern tip of Africa, where ships once carried treasured cargo such as porcelain and spices.

Those spices are echoed in the Syrah's signature white pepper character, creating a connection between the w**e's flavour profile and the maritime history that shaped this coastline.

A small detail, but one that carries an important part of the Ghost Corner story.

Ghost Corner Wild Ferment Sauvignon Blanc offers a fuller, more textured expression of the variety.

It retains the freshness associated with Sauvignon Blanc, while natural fermentation and time in barrel add a creamy texture and greater depth. Pear, quince and a savoury edge make every sip more interesting.

The 2025 vintage recently received 95 points and a Gold medal at the 2026 Decanter World W**e Awards, an achievement we are incredibly proud to share.

There is no separating Ghost Corner from Elim.

The cool air, persistent coastal winds and slow-ripening conditions influence every w**e in the range, from the freshness of the Sauvignon Blanc to the savoury character of the Pinot Noir and Syrah.

Each w**e has its own personality, but Elim remains the thread that connects them all.
