Great Heart Wines is an independently registered company founded by Chris and Andrea Mullineux during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021 to enhance the livelihoods of its shareholders. It is a 100% staff-owned company, with equal shareholders comprising all permanent employees at Mullineux Winery in the Swartland, as well as Leeu Passant Winery in Franschhoek, who have been employed for two or more con

secutive years. The company is collectively owned by the office, warehouse, vineyard, and winery staff, and a portion of all Great Heart wine sales profits is distributed directly to them. The wines truly represent their place of origin and the people who call it home.

Today, we’re raising a glass to our Great Heart Chenin Blanc, a wine that shows exactly why this variety has become such an important part of South Africa’s wine story!

Now listed as the world’s largest Chenin-producing nation, our old vines, diverse soils and warmer climate have helped shape expressions that are gaining serious international attention.

So much so, that even in France’s Loire Valley, where Chenin Blanc first made its name, researchers are looking to South African Chenin clones and plant material for insight into the future of the variety in a changing climate.

There are many reasons why Red Blends continue to hold their place on tables, both locally and abroad.

They bring together the best of different varieties, each one adding a unique fruit character, structure and depth to the final blend.

It is this balance that makes the Great Heart Red Blend such an easy wine to come back to.

This Cabernet Sauvignon-led marriage with Syrah and other sustainably farmed red wine varieties, is medium bodied and fresh with red berry fruit singing and a gentle hint of spice on the finish.
