Babylonstoren lies at the foot of the Simonsberg Mountain, between Paarl and Franschhoek in the Western Cape region of South Africa. Today it is a farm, a farm hotel, a restaurant, greenhouse, bakery, larder, spa, cellar and a learning centre for our people. Babylonstoren is also home to an organic food garden of great diversity: eight acres of vegetables and aromatic herbs. Open daily (including

One year ago, during a stormy night on the farm, Cascade made his arrival.

Tunnel treasures 🍅

June can be a trying time for true tomato lovers, but this year Babylonstoren’s tunnels are bringing new colour to winter. Elzé Bresler and her team have, for the first time, been cultivating several varieties of winter heirloom tomatoes.

Visitors can look forward to a riot of purple, yellow, orange and green, though not red. Firm, juicy and full of flavour, these tomatoes make it possible to enjoy the farm’s tried-and-tested heirloom cultivars all year round.

They are available in the Farm Shop and online.
