A road through history. A vineyard with a future.

At the foothills of the Helderberg, our Single Vineyard Rix Dollar Cinsault comes from Certified Heritage bush vines planted in 1974. Beside them, beneath the oak trees, you can still see a surviving stretch of the original road between Stellenbosch and Somerset West. History runs right past this vineyard.

Keeping these vines thriving takes care and ingenuity. We tuck straw beneath them to hold precious moisture in the dryland soil, giving our late-ripening Cinsault the time it needs. Nguni cattle roam the block and help control weeds. Compost and natural fertilisation feed the soil, while every vine is tended by hand.

Old vines like these are irreplaceable. Protecting them preserves the character, knowledge and living heritage that make South African w**e extraordinary.

At the heart of Old Road W**e Co. is w**emaker Ryan Putick, whose philosophy has always remained simple: respect the fruit and let the vineyard speak.

With minimal intervention, a deep reverence for old vines and an unrelenting curiosity for every parcel of land, Ryan crafts w**es of clarity, structure and sincerity - w**es that reflect where they come from, not just who made them.

In just five years, this approach has earned more than 70 awards, including some of the w**e world’s highest honours, with another two gold medals now added to the journey.

But for Ryan, acclaim has never been the destination. Every accolade simply confirms what we’ve always believed: when knowledge, patience and terroir lead the way, the w**es speak for themselves.
