Lomond Wine Estate, near Gansbaai, is one of very few wineries with a Cape Agulhas District appellation.

'The Alchemy of Nature' is more than just a tagline. Each of our vineyards is named after Fynbos plants found on the farm. We work collaboration with the Walkberbay Fynbos Conservancy to ensure the conservation of our beautiful Fynbos mountains. On the farm you will not only come across award winning wines but also enjoy endless views from our tasting room next to the dam, surrounding yourself with the peace and tranquility of the outdoors. With wide open spaces, we cater for the entire family (kid-friendly and dog-friendly). We are constantly hosting different events, with a wide variety of fun activities and things to do! We also supply venue facilities, so weather you are planning a wedding, birthday, baby shower, kitchen tea or corporate event, we'll be able to assist!

Farm update from Cellarmaster Anné 🌿

With temperatures beginning to rise, our vineyards have awakened from their winter slumber. Buds are stirring, new growth is emerging.

Another growing season has begun at Lomond. 🍇

Budding arrived earlier than usual this year, and our young vines are showing an eagerness to grow. Tiny shoots are stretching towards the spring sunshine transforming the dormant vines into a sea of fresh green.

Exciting to see the first signs of the 2027 harvest taking shape.
Our tasting room is open daily from 10am to 4pm.

Introducing the Southernmost Chenin Blanc in Africa 🍷

We like the odd glass of Chenin Blanc, so a while back we planted a block of Chenin, to see what would happen.

In April 2025 the farm was buzzing with a mix of reflection and excitement with the maiden harvest of our Chenin Blanc, grown in what is officially the Southernmost block of Chenin in Africa. 🍇

It is now time to share the results with you with the launch of our
Single Vineyard Chenin Blanc 2025!

The free run juice from hand harvested grapes was barrel fermented in 500L French Oak barrels, left on the lees for 9 months and then bottle aged.
300 cases are available.

This registered Single Vineyard site was chosen for its distinctive terroir, predominantly ferricrete soils.

This Chenin is named after the endangered Aristea Teritifolia which was discovered on Lomond during alien vegetation removal after an ecological burn. 🌿

Update from our viticulturist Henk about our replanting at Lomond Farm: 🌿

Lomond is well suited to Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc. Recently we've had much success with Viognier, Sémillon and Mourvèdre which we use as blending components. 🍷

In 2022 we planted an experimental block of Chenin and Anné's first vintage 2025 was exceptional, so we're planting more Chenin Blanc as well as more Syrah.

We are also planting experimental blocks of Chardonnay and Grenache. Chardonnay does well in cold climates like ours. Grenache (a Rhône cultivar) will give Anné and her team more arrows in their quiver when blending and making Rosé or a lighter style red. Our 18 different soil types starts a lengthy process of deciding where to plant each cultivar.

We also use solar radiation maps, sun hours per day, aspect and steepness of slopes. Choice of the correct clone of each cultivar must be decided and then begins the labour intensive part of replanting. 🍇

We farm in one of the most beautiful parts of the Cape.

The Sewejaartjies / Everlastings flowers are showing off around our vineyards, with the farm (cellar) in the background.

Here is also pic of our Pinot noir vineyard enjoying the view of the ocean and a pic of our future Lomond Brut Rosé 2027 cap classique. 🍷
