Bokpoort Pass:
Bokpoort Pass is synonymous with famous South African writer, poet and ethnologist, Eugène Marais, who loved for several years at Doornhoek near Mookgophong. At Doornhoek, Marais did his notable work on terminates and baboons; and it was up this pass that he first collected specimens of extremely rare cycads, which are only found in two localities in the Waterberg.

Vasbyt Hiking Trail:
A wonderful trail to do in winter, this overnight backpack trail is a two-day circular trail in the heart of the Waterberg Mountains, with access to some incredible scenery and a good walk that is neither too taxing nor too easy. Basecamp, with its little thatched lapa, is comfortable with flush toilets, showers, gas stoves, kettle and an outside brai area.
