Reminders of keeping things simple from our Angora goats

Focus on the main things - eat, and look after your babies!

And for the Rams (!) - eat and procreate!

The big boys are doing their last jobs with the last of the ewe tail waggers and then it'll be rest time (and kid growing time) for the mammas. .The boys then salute and say their job is done and retire for the rest of the year!

We are preparing for the end of the winter and spring for little arrivals and we can't wait to get our cuddle and snuggle fix.

If you want to see some of this action and babies, email us to book our farm cottage or our 2 Shepherd hut cabins at our campsite. (Kidding starts around end July to mid August)

So funny.

Not completely true but more like 'Choosing the farm over drama and drama-mongering type of people'.

Most people we like. Like the kind ones, the nature and animal loving, open-minded ones.

Have a happy Freedom day for all South Africans.

Thought provoking and named with much thought and heart.

Taking steps back to take some steps forward....

We've realised that we've never shared the original Spinlea Farm story - how it started and where the name SPINLEA came from.

We're going back to the beginning and will do a series so we can see where we came from to see where we are going.

Have a beautiful gentle week and happy Sunday.

Having herself a jolly little lead up to Christmas this little zinnia is having!

A new girl from our breeding patch! Very exciting colour combo and a keeper for now.

She'll get isolated and hand pollinated to try to capture her genetics and we'll try to see if we can get another generation out of her before next season.

Hold thumbs!

Still got a last few of our first season of breeding zinnias up on our website.
We're focusing on zinnias and creating new beauties this season.

They're the jolliest of flowers and everywhere people need a little bit of jolly!

We also have some of our new candles up online - made from our own essential oils distilled here on the farm (a 2 year project that is eventually ready! - we're just late with marketing it with a big bang, so if you'd like to get your hands on some of new ones head to our website.

A very special Sunday Still Life for our very own special Gramps.

May you rest in peace and we are grateful for so much - for your life lessons, your resilience training, your love. We love you.

Until we say Hello again.

But we know you're here.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Sunday still life is back!

A little calm palette at the end of the week.
This week we'll say goodbye to our peonies until next year - little Miss Duchesse De Nemours is here with her partner in crime white O'Hara or Free&Loyal rose.

Lingering scents of summer and the flickering shadows from the tree outside is all we need to switch off.

Wishing you all a good first week of November.

The PEONY - how this simple flower has changed our lives here at Spinlea.
We took a leap of faith in 2019 and imported peony roots from the Netherlands.
Our supplier said 'just leave them in the ground, they don't need feeding, they just grow on their own' - he didn't understand African summers!

These babies are resilient. Survived through floods, and scorching heat and we found our own way they're happy and adjusted and flourishing now!

And now she stands there in all her graceful glory, tall and elegant with not a twinkle in her eye of the hardships she's endured. Always a lesson in everything!

We're delivering in Hermanus this week- probably last Hermanus delivery.
Order on our website www.spinleafarm.com under flowers.

HERMANUS - you're in for a treat!
Your own little bit of Paris grown right here in the Overberg

We are delivering to Hermanus this Saturday (25 October) and stems are limited after a big order that went out.

Order on our website www.spinleafarm.com to treat yourself or to treat someone special to a little bit of Europe amid this heat!

Posies are mixed white (Duchesse De Nemours) and pink (Jules St Elie) - 2 little French ladies waiting to romanticise your home with their lingering scent that we just can't describe - absolutely nothing like it!

And yes they are all grown right here on our farm, grown organically, no yucky chemicals or pesticides. Lots of tenderness and talking and healthy plants.
