These 2 girls have a language that no-one else can speak. Jazzie (Jasmine) came to live with us at Spinlea Farm with her companion horse Ellie Bellie 8 years ago! Jazzie was rescued by a friend in Greyton and needed a forever home, so we adopted her. And I know loves them as much as we do because I also catch him talking to them.

But Jazzie and Julia have an unbreakable bond that is at the heart of the 'groundedness' we feel here at Spinlea.

And now we have a little retirement horse livery with more beautiful souls that bring us down to earth daily, helping us to slow down.

They are no 1 on my personal list for breath slowing practice! They know they don't have to 'do' anything when we spend time with them. They can just 'be'. And that really is at the heart of what we want all our guests at Spinlea to feel..... That you can just come and be. No need to perform or be anything you're not.

Wow wow. THANK YOU! Thanks to all of your amazing gardening mense we sold out of our new zinnias in our Spinlea Farm Zinnia Collection.

So we've decided to add some more to the site. This will be the last time that we will have certain varieties up because we want to continue our breeding work with them and refine more of them. So the more stock we have the better it is for us.

But we've decided to add a few more packs onto the site to share a little with more of you.

There are some varieties which are ONE PACK PER CUSTOMER. Please be considerate and only add one to your cart. We can't work out the techy side of this, so if you do add more of the 2 varieties which state this on the product info, we will only be able to send you one pack.

There are other options where you can add as many as you like!

The little things that make up our life, these are the achievements we strive for.

Time with our kids, and our kids spending time with our angora goat kids, bottle feeding, finger nibbles, winter sun, open landscapes and time.

It has been raining baby goats and Neil the and his team have been pulling out all the stops from sunrise to sunset saving all these little souls.

A full time and a full heart. Reminders of new life and new fresh perspectives and the little things that make up a big life.

Goat kidding season is not all year round. If you're wanting to come and experience farm life and new life here at Spinlea now is the time.

It's canola season and it's early this year! The seasons have been changing but the yellow is always a welcome light toward the end of the winter tunnel!
It's spectacular! No-one has ever looked up at the yellow fields and said they are ugly - and what that yellow hope does to the feeling and sentiment in the proverbial air!

It's also almost baby goat kidding time. We're waiting in anticipation for the first baby bokkies to pop out. Their due date was 1 August.

So if you're wanting to get some baby goat action you can still snap up one of accomodation options at the special winter and midweek rates. Email us on [email protected] directly for specials at our Goat Shed cottage or shepherd hut cabins at our campsite. And also camping.

And the Goat Farmer Neil can offer bakkie rides to check on new babies for staying guests, if weather/demands allow, as an extra service.

Just like a mother's work is never done, neither is a farmer's work ever done. Even on Sundays. Every day.

Here the goat farmer is collecting his naughty angora bokkies back into their camp. There is that old saying that if you can throw water through it (a fence), a goat can get through it. Very true! And they are always testing their boundaries. Naughty yes but also beautiful and cuddly.

The landscape is so beautiful at the moment - green and more green and some yellow starting to
show - the canola is starting to flower. Such a beautiful time of year, the rolling hills of the Overberg.

Someone recently said that they know Neil's a farmer but what does he do ?

A little snippet of a snippet of what he does - one of the big farming jobs is feeding our angora goats and livery horses.

Especially at the start of winter before the fodder lands (in winter we have oats growing) are ready for grazing.

Here the troops are getting barley bales from our neighbour's last year's harvest. Always planning ahead.
