The Story Behind Raaff & Co

The Raaff family’s history in the fishing and fishmongering industry stretches back 96 years, with a proud legacy passed down through four generations. Raaff & Co is the fourth generation to take up the baton, continuing a family tradition built on quality, hard work, and a deep connection to the sea and the Overberg community.

It has been 16 years since a Raaff family member last sold their products through a retail store. Today, Raaff & Co brings that legacy back to the shelves — combining generations of knowledge and experience with new products, fresh ideas, and a modern approach to food.

For generations, our family’s fish and seafood products have been enjoyed throughout the Overberg, from fresh fish to carefully prepared frozen products. We are proud to continue that tradition while creating products that suit the tastes and lifestyles of today.

Raaff & Co also brings together two unique heritages. Alongside the Raaff family’s fishing and fishmongering roots is Viola’s Cape Malay heritage, bringing generations of traditional flavours, spices, and culinary inspiration to the table.

Together, these traditions give us the opportunity to create something truly special — bringing the heritage of the sea together with the richness of Cape Malay flavours, while developing a range of products for a new generation to enjoy.

After 24 hours without sleep, God made it possible for me to serve fresh, delicious, and tasty plates of food to our amazing clients. It was only possible because God heard my prayers in the early morning hours. 😍🥰
