Wishing you a soft slow Sunday. Pruning the roses with Dad earlier it’s impossible to not marvel at how even in the middle of winter it’s beautiful outside. Going across the farm it’s good to see the dam didn’t wash away. The farm is fully booked for this long weekend coming up but do make a booking for wintertime weekend. ☀️

After the storm I said I’d post again when we had both power and internet on the farm again 🛜 so here we are back at it! The whole community and everyone in the area has been affected and it’s incredible to see how quickly we can repair and move forwards.

American Foul Brood is a topic many beekeepers are avoiding altogether. No one wants to talk about it because it’s deeply concerning. It’s affecting the bees 🐝 All of our bees. We are talking about it in depth at our next . Be sure to attend if this is a concern for you as a small or a large scale beekeeper. DM to register. 17th,18th April 2026. We will be discussing what the disease is, how it manifests in your swarm, how it spreads and impacts your business. We will discuss your options are as a beekeeper, how to treat hives and alternatives to antibiotics 🐝 Let’s come together and share what we know, ask questions, hear what does and doesn’t seem to be working and hopefully learn from each other to find a way forward

definitely a step up… I was sad to see the old ones go… wondered how many guests, grannies, aunts, uncles, cousins, dogs, friends, brides and children had sat or played on them over the years

Inside the hive - Identifying pollen by colour. Warm yellow is what we are currently seeing a lot of. The bees are foraging on the helichrysums in the veld around the farm. Red is from the Aloes. Pollen colour varies dramatically from acid yellow through to blue!
