A dream come true

Celebrated winemaker Batho Eksteem realised his dream by crafting a Semillon from a 120‑year‑old Franschhoek vineyard on his native La Bri farm. Using wild fermentation and minimal intervention, he aged a single barrel in a homemade coolbox for a year, tasted a triumphant result and named the wine “Droom”. The limited release will be reserved for close friends and family after a celebratory launch with fellow vintners and loved ones.

A little throwback to the Pinotage harvest of 2026 at Bartho Eksteen Wine Estate. 🍇

Among the vines, baskets slowly filling and that unmistakable harvest energy in the air, there was also the sweetest detail in the first slide: the tiny Pinotage hats, lovingly crocheted by Suné. A small, thoughtful touch that made the moment feel even more special.

Harvest season, craftsmanship, and heart woven into it all.

By ons is dit eerder die begin van die storie.

BLOM Rosé
Ons is besonders trots op BLOM. Dit ontvang dieselfde vyfster-behandeling as al ons wyne.
Reeds in 2017 het BLOM geskiedenis gemaak as die eerste Rosé in Platter’s wat vir 5 sterre genomineer is,
en sedertdien het dit nog nooit minder as 4.5 sterre ontvang nie.

Die nuwe 2025 BLOM is nou beskikbaar.

Estate Pinot always means a full & focused cellar. The 2026 is showing beautifully and it is genuinely exciting to see where it is heading. After a solid period on the skins, we pressed this week, setting it up perfectly for its next chapter in barrel, where it will spend the next 12 months.

A special milestone for us as well. We are the first estate globally to work with this specific German press, the Willmes Sphera, purpose built and exceptionally well suited to Pinot Noir and similarly sensitive varieties. Precision, gentleness, and purity in extraction are everything here, and this press delivers on all fronts.

A big day, a serious wine, and a vintage we are watching very closely. 🍇👏
