Every element of our Pinot & Panini experience has been carefully chosen. Freshly baked bread. Traditionally cured coppa from Richard Bosman. Crisp rocket. Tangy gherkin. Wholegrain Dijon mustard. Paired with a glass of Galpin Peak Pinot Noir, renowned for its elegance and sense of place.
This is more than lunch.
It's a celebration of local producers, local craftsmanship and the flavours that make our region unique.

Join us and taste the difference.

Some years leave a deeper imprint than others. At Patience Poured, we revisit a remarkable collection of Bouchard Finlayson wines spanning from 2005 to the present day, tracing the seasons and careful decisions that shaped each vintage.
For those who have followed the story of the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley and those discovering it for the first time, this retrospective offers a rare opportunity to experience how time reveals itself in the glass.

Mandela Day reminds us that what defines a business is not only what it produces, but how it chooses to show up in the world.

Reflecting on Nelson Mandela's words, "what counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead" we were reminded that meaningful change is often built through small acts of commitment, repeated over time.

For more than sixteen years, Bouchard Finlayson has quietly supported the Hermanus Rainbow Trust in its work with children and families in our community. This Mandela Day, our team was honoured to give our time to support their work at their Eluncedweni Centre in the heart of Zwelihle Township. The Bouchard Finlayson team partnered with Pretty Dube, Trust Manager, and Bathandile Siwendela, Social Worker, and the rest of the Rainbow Trust team to complete maintenance work at the Centre and prepare soup, fruit and juice for more than 265 children. Together with the children, our team created a beautiful rainbow wall, a daily reminder to all that the Centre is a safe place; a place to dream

We were also honoured to be joined by the Department of Education, Department of Social Development and the Hermanus Times. Sybil Domm Pretorius, founder of Dignity to Rise, also joined us; whose vision of a poverty-free Overstrand speaks to what becomes possible when people, organisations and communities unite around a shared purpose.

At Bouchard Finlayson, we believe "Excellence isn't the aspiration. Excellence is the standard." For us, that standard extends far beyond the wines we make.

As Claire Reitz, Head of People & Culture, shared during our Mandela Day gathering, "Exceptional wines can only come from an exceptional business" and an exceptional business is defined by more than quality, it is defined by care.

Whether tending vineyards, welcoming guests, supporting a child, or rolling up our sleeves to serve our community, each of us has the opportunity to make a difference.
The things worth building are rarely built in a day. They are built patiently, thoughtfully, and with care.

For Bouchard Finlayson, the future is not shaped by the pursuit of something new, but by a deeper attentiveness to what is already here. Our wines will continue along this path. Formed not by urgency, but by the ocean breezes and the soils beneath us.

There is a feeling now of standing within something that does not begin or end with us. We are the custodians of this legacy, now and into the seasons to come. We demonstrate this responsibility by caring for our land, people and culture, gently and with consciousness.

Today, our role within the Heritage Block is defined by attention rather than intervention. At Bouchard Finlayson, farm manager Stefan Hartmann, does not seek to direct the vineyard, but to understand what it is already expressing.
“These vineyards are now 36 years old, and we hope to get another 30 years of excellent Pinot Noir from them.“
Here in the Hemel-en-Aarde, we are reminded that the vineyard shapes us in return. It influences how we move, how we decide, and how we understand continuity across time. We care for the land, and it rewards us with wines of character and intensity.

These Pinot Noir vines were planted in 1990, at a time when both our Estate and the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley were still being defined. The future was uncertain, shaped by instinct and a belief that this place could hold something of significance.
We can trace that belief through the years. In each season, through quiet decisions that guided the vineyard without ever seeking attention.
Heritage is not something we complete. It is something we continue to shape through how we care for this land.
