🌽 Maize Planting Done! 🌱

We’ve wrapped up planting for the season, and now it’s all about the follow-up. After planting, we’re focusing on:

• Soil moisture – watching for enough early rain for good germination.
• W**d control – applying pre-emergence herbicide before weeds take over.
• Armyworm & cutworm checks – early scouting is key in SA conditions.
• Preparing for top-dressing – nitrogen boost planned for 3–4 weeks after emergence.
• Checking emergence – making sure rows come up evenly.

Here’s to a strong start and a good harvest ahead! 🌾🇿🇦

🧅 Onion Harvest Day!
The tops finally flopped over and the necks softened — clear signs our onions were ready. We pulled them gently from the soil and set them out to dry so they cure into those perfect papery bulbs. Simple, satisfying, and oh-so-fragrant! 🌾✨

This has marked the 3rd year of hosting Cirrus Aircraft South Africa here at Belle Rive, to share and show the behind the scenes work that goes into farming.
