La Petite France Dairy Products The lush pastures of Preston Farm are home to La Petite France. A family-run dairy and cheesery. His production philosophy is one of natural balance.

Situated just outside Howick,in the KZN Midlands, is Preston Farm. Nestling in the rolling hills of the Karkloof, this beautiful farm, established in 1972, is owned and run by Grant Warren and his family. Jersey and Swedish Red cattle dot the green pastures surrounding the dairy. An abundance of rye grass enables the cows to produce, rich, natural-tasting, top-quality milk. Now the owner of La Pet

ite France handmade cheese, with the factory on the farm, Grant is able to focus on milk quality and not quantity. Cows are natural grazers so they are given the freedom to graze the fields, day and night, the whole year round. The cows are not pushed for production with grains, processed food or hormones, and thus develop a high natural immunity and this translates into milk with good food value, digestibility and taste. Many would argue that the resultant Camembert and Brie are the best in the country- in the words of one of our customers:
“I am Swiss and sometimes know what I am talking about and your soft French-style Camembert and Brie are without a doubt the best available in South Africa and I would venture to say better than some French cheeses of the same type that I have sampled. They ripen properly, developing good texture and flavour as they age.”

Since La Petite France first came to fruition under founder Hubert Berbizier, Preston Farm has been the supplier of the creamy milk required to manufacture these mouth-watering cheeses. The French style cheeses are hand-made and contain no chemicals or additives. The cultures used are imported from France, as is the micro-permeable packaging paper which allows the cheeses to breathe. We invite you to enjoy the delectable handmade cheeses of La Petite France.

A truly special moment at Preston Farm today 🖤🐦

We were incredibly lucky to receive a visit from a Rare Southern Ground Hornbill — a sighting that feels nothing short of magical.

These magnificent birds are among South Africa’s most endangered species, with fewer than 1,500 individuals left in the wild.

Seeing one here today is a powerful reminder of how important it is to protect the natural spaces around us. We feel deeply privileged to have shared our farm, even just for a moment, with such a rare and iconic bird.

A moment we won’t forget anytime soon ✨
