I visited my mom for her birthday, and as we were chatting with relatives, we started asking each other what we’re doing these days. I told them I’m into piggery.
One of them paused, sighed in relief, and said, “Son, maybe you can help us with a problem we have next door.” He explained that the neighbors’ pigs were a menace — breaking out of their pens and damaging his field. Worse still, they weren’t being properly fed. They had simply been inherited from a late relative, and no real care was being given to them.
Out of concern, we immediately went to see them. When they noticed how much I care about the animals, they even tried to raise the price from the original amount. But honestly, the pigs were in a very bad state — surviving on grass, with no proper feed, no water, poor ventilation, and no cleaning.
Normally, I focus on pure, high-quality breeds. But this time, I couldn’t turn a blind eye. I decided to take them in and give them a better chance at life.
When we got home, I dewormed them and started feeding them properly. This is just the beginning — I’ll be sharing their progress as they recover and grow.
Glory be to the Most High. 🙏

For these and many other blessings, we thank You, Lord.

What we have is the zeal and the drive. We may not have a lot of cash stashed somewhere to build everything at once, but we believe the little we get is enough for us to grow.
One step at a time. One day at a time.
It is now time to expand. We are constructing a 42m × 3m pigsty — a small beginning on the journey to greatness in the pig industry.
Every big farm started with a single decision to begin. Today, we build. Tomorrow, we grow.

I encourage you to start with what you have. The only difference between you and successful people like Strive Masiyiwa is that they started.
You don’t need much to begin — even one piglet or a serviced sow is enough. Start small, grow step by step. What matters most is taking that first step. Your journey to success begins the day you decide to start. 💪

Introducing Piglets to Creep Feed
Creep feeding is the practice of providing a highly palatable, nutrient-dense solid feed to piglets while they are still suckling the sow. It is usually introduced when piglets are 7–10 days old and continues until weaning at about 4 weeks of age.

Purpose of Creep Feeding
Promotes early gut development by stimulating digestive enzyme production.
Improves growth rate and weaning weights, with a target of 7–7.5 kg at weaning.
Reduces weaning stress by helping piglets adapt gradually from milk to solid feed.
Supports larger litters, where the sow’s milk alone may not meet all nutritional needs.

If you are planning on starting a pig farming business, my advice to you is: do not start too big, for obvious reasons.
1️⃣ You need to acquire enough knowledge, and the best teacher is experience. Losses in farming can be very expensive. I’m saying this from personal experience.
2️⃣ Unless you have a lot of money to inject into the business, don’t start too big. Pig farming requires a lot of money for feed. For instance, a pig consumes about 2 kg of feed every day, and it eats even more when it has piglets in order to keep the sow healthy. On average, you can spend around $36 on feed for a single pig per month.
So I insist: start small.
A 3-serviced sow unit is a good number to begin with.
Nothing is as fulfilling to a farmer as seeing growth every morning when you wake up.
With God on the helm, we win.
