💧 Delivering Sustainable Water Solutions in West Africa 🌍

WEC Water is proud to have recently commissioned two water treatment plants and a sewage treatment plant for a gold mine in Ghana’s western region.

🔹 The potable water treatment plant treats borehole water to deliver 20 m³/h of safe drinking water for the mine, by activated filter media, granular activated carbon filtration, and final disinfection by calcium hypochlorite dosing and UV.

🔹 The 88 m³/h process water treatment plant is designed to reduce suspended solids and turbidity present in the ring main water to achieve the client’s required discharge standards. The process train consists of coagulant dosing followed by dual media filtration.

🔹 Designed with flexibility in mind, the sewage treatment plant employs a conventional activated sludge (CAS) process that can be seamlessly converted to an MBBR system. This ensures reliable performance as the mine’s workforce transitions from approximately 1,800 personnel during construction phase to about 550 permanent staff. The plant is capable of treating flows ranging from 16 m³/d to 268 m³/d.

This project demonstrates WEC Water’s ability to provide tailored, and robust, treatment solutions that meet the unique operational challenges of the mining sector.

🚀Project Commissioned!

WEC Water is proud to announce the successful commissioning of our latest project with a municipality in the Free State. 💧

We designed, supplied, manufactured, delivered, installed, and commissioned a state-of-the-art 4 MLD water treatment plant that treats river water to potable water standards, providing safe and clean drinking water to the community.

As part of the next phase, the existing 2.6 MLD plant and abstraction works will also be upgraded. Once both projects are complete, the community will benefit from 6.6 MLD of potable water—a significant step toward improved water security and a sustainable future. 🌍

The treatment train includes clarification, filtration, and final disinfection, ensuring consistently high-quality water.
WEC Water remains committed to delivering innovative water treatment solutions that transform lives. 💧

WEC and AQUA Services & Engineering deliver another RO Plant

In partnership with AQUA Services & Engineering, WEC Water has successfully delivered a 750 m³/d containerised reverse osmosis (RO) plant at the Ohangwena wellfield in Namibia.

By recovering concentrated brine from the existing RO plant and treating raw borehole water, this innovative solution boosts efficiency, reduces waste, and strengthens the region’s bulk water supply.

We’re proud of our team and partners for turning this milestone into reality and for contributing to a sustainable water future for Namibia.

🎉 Exciting News from WEC Water! 💧

Following the successful commissioning of a water treatment plant earlier this year at a gold mine in Zimbabwe, we are proud to announce that we’ve been awarded a second 3 MLD conventional water treatment project at the same site. 🌍✨

This new award is a testament to the success of the first installation, which treats surface water to meet Zimbabwean potable water standards, ensuring a safe and reliable water supply for process and potable use on the mine.

The treatment process includes:
💧 Gravity Cascade Aeration
💧 Coagulation & Flocculation
💧 High-Rate Clarification
💧 AFM Filtration
💧 Final Disinfection

We’re honoured to continue supporting the mining sector with sustainable water treatment solutions - another step forward in Engineering the Water of Tomorrow. 🚀

💧 Sanitation = Dignity 🌍

At WEC Water, we believe every community deserves safe, reliable, and sustainable sanitation. That’s why we’re deploying the NEWgenerator™ 800 for blackwater treatment and the Multitplier for greywater. Our water-efficient sanitation systems (WESS) recycle water for toilet flushing and support local food production.

📍 Recent success:
NEWgenerator™ 800 and Multiplier installation at Upper Malacca Road informal settlement, KwaZulu-Natal
NEWgenerator™ 800 and Multiplier installation at Lower Malacca Road informal settlement, KwaZulu-Natal

🔧 Next stops:
NEWgenerator™ 800 installation at Rasta Camp informal settlement, Western Cape
Three NEWgenerator™ 800 installations at OR Tambo informal settlement, Western Cape

Our work goes beyond technology. Each project focuses on community engagement, education, and job creation— empowering people while protecting the environment.

Proud to collaborate with the Water Research Commission (WRC) and local municipalities to deliver innovation, sustainability and dignity - one community at a time. 💙
