Wine Talk was about more than just wine, lunch was also more than just food.
Prepared by the team from Salt, the harvest-style spread reflected the same values we hold for Wine Talk: connection, respect for heritage, and curiosity about where we go next.
Born and raised in Kgabalatsane village, Absalom Kotsokoane trained through the SA Chefs Association and HTA Culinary School before co-founding Salt Culinary Consulting. He is also a founding member of Harvesting Heritage, an NPO dedicated to indigenous and landrace ingredients, responsible sourcing, and supporting small-scale farmers.
His work celebrates South African identity - past, present, and future - with a plant-forward focus on ancient grains and respectful interpretations of our food culture.
That’s why we chose Salt for Wine Talk: because just like in wine, the food on the table should spark conversations about who we are, where we’ve come from, and where we’re headed.
Thank you to Absalom, , and the Salt chefs for bringing the attendees together over soulful food and reflective conversations.
