People often say they want the truth, until the truth confronts what they believe, exposes what they love, or calls them to change. Often, the problem is that truth can be uncomfortable to receive.
The Annointed One said: “And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.” -John 3:19
Truth does not always flatter us. It corrects, exposes, rebukes, and calls us to repentance. That is why it is written that a time would come when people would reject sound teaching and instead surround themselves with voices that tell them what they want to hear.
“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine… they shall turn away their ears from the truth.” -2 Timothy 4:3-4..... Misleading is coming a very long way, very long time..... Since and before our Master, the Son of Father All Mighty dwelled on earth...
The prophets experienced it. The disciples experienced it. And The Son Himself experienced it. When truth challenged sin, pride, tradition, and unbelief, many did not embrace Him, they opposed Him. That is why He, the Son of the Almighty was killed and later the disciples as well. (can say a lot about this, many scriptures to proof this)
The Message the Son brought from the Father Almighty was never given merely to make us comfortable. It was given to awake us!!!
“Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” -John 17:17
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
John 8:32
So when biblical truth leaves a bitter taste, our first response should not be to reject the message, attack the messenger, or search for a more comfortable version. We should examine our hearts and ask whether The Almighty Father is correcting something within us.
Truth may offend our pride before it transforms our lives.
The question is not simply, “Do I love truth when I agree with it?”
The question is: “Do I still love the truth when it corrects me?”
