Mpumalanga communities are calling for stronger accountability and better protection of their right to safe, reliable water.
During recent public hearings on the proposed Water Services Amendment Bill, residents raised concerns about unreliable supply and the growing dependence on water tankers—some of which may not consistently meet acceptable quality standards.
The proposed legislation aims to improve the management of water services, strengthen enforcement and introduce mandatory licensing for water-service providers.
Reliable water is more than a service—it is essential for public health, local businesses and community development.
