⚽ Match-Day Peri-Peri Chicken Wraps ⚽

World Cup flavours, Pick n Pay prices! Bring bold Portuguese-inspired flavour to your table with these quick and spicy peri-peri chicken wraps — perfect for lunchboxes, match snacks or an easy family dinner before kick-off.

All ingredients are available at Pick n Pay stores nationwide.

Serves: 4
Prep time: 15 minutes
Cook time: 15 minutes

Ingredients:
🛒 4 large wraps
🛒 500g Pick n Pay chicken breast fillets, sliced into strips
🛒 2 tbsp peri-peri sauce
🛒 1 tbsp cooking oil
🛒 1 tsp paprika
🛒 1 tsp crushed garlic
🛒 ½ tsp salt
🛒 ¼ tsp black pepper
🛒 Juice of ½ lemon
🛒 1 cup shredded lettuce
🛒 1 medium tomato, sliced
🛒 ½ red onion, thinly sliced
🛒 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
🛒 ½ cup mayonnaise
🛒 1 tbsp peri-peri sauce, extra for the mayo
🛒 1 avocado, sliced, optional
🛒 Lemon wedges, for serving

Method:

1. Place the chicken strips in a bowl. Add peri-peri sauce, oil, paprika, garlic, salt, pepper and lemon juice. Mix well and marinate for 10 minutes.
2. Heat a pan over medium-high heat. Cook the chicken for 8–10 minutes, turning often, until golden and cooked through.
3. Mix the mayonnaise with 1 tbsp peri-peri sauce to make a spicy mayo.
4. Warm the wraps in a dry pan or microwave for a few seconds.
5. Spread each wrap with peri-peri mayo, then add lettuce, tomato, red onion, cheese, avocado and cooked chicken.
6. Fold and roll tightly, then slice in half.
7. Serve with lemon wedges and extra peri-peri sauce on the side.

✊🏽Youth Day Kota-Style Loaded Vetkoek✊🏽

Celebrate Youth Day with a proudly South African street-food favourite! These golden vetkoek are loaded kota-style with saucy mince, crispy chips, cheese, atchar and fresh toppings — bold, filling and full of Mzansi flavour.

All ingredients are available at Pick n Pay stores nationwide.

Serves: 4–6
Prep time: 20 minutes
Cook time: 30 minutes

Ingredients:

For the vetkoek:
🛒 4 cups cake flour
🛒 1 packet instant yeast
🛒 2 tbsp sugar
🛒 1 tsp salt
🛒 1½ cups lukewarm water
🛒 2 tbsp cooking oil
🛒 Extra oil, for deep-frying

For the mince:
🛒 500g Pick n Pay beef mince
🛒 1 tbsp cooking oil
🛒 1 medium onion, finely chopped
🛒 2 tsp crushed garlic
🛒 2 tbsp tomato paste
🛒 1 tsp curry powder
🛒 1 tsp paprika
🛒 ½ tsp salt
🛒 ¼ tsp black pepper
🛒 ½ cup water

For loading:
🛒 3 cups frozen chips, cooked until crispy
🛒 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
🛒 ½ cup atchar
🛒 ½ cup tomato sauce
🛒 ¼ cup mayonnaise
🛒 1 cup shredded lettuce
🛒 1 tomato, sliced
🛒 4–6 slices polony, optional

Method:

1. Mix flour, yeast, sugar and salt in a bowl. Add lukewarm water and 2 tbsp oil, then mix into a soft dough.
2. Knead for 8–10 minutes. Cover and leave to rise for 45–60 minutes, or until doubled in size.
3. Divide into 4–6 balls and flatten slightly. Deep-fry in hot oil until golden brown and cooked through. Drain on paper towel.
4. For the mince, heat oil in a pan. Fry onion for 3–4 minutes, then add garlic.
5. Add mince and cook until browned. Stir in tomato paste, curry powder, paprika, salt, pepper and water. Simmer for 8–10 minutes until thick and saucy.
6. Slice each vetkoek open and load with lettuce, tomato, polony, chips, mince, cheese, atchar, tomato sauce and mayonnaise.

Serve warm and enjoy every proudly Mzansi bite! 🇿🇦✨
