We lined up some first calvers before afternoon milking. All of them are producing over 30 litres. They are sired by AltaMONTRA, AltaRIVERDALE and AltaDEONTE.

Yesterday we received the sad news that Pierre Coetzee had passed away. We have known Pierre for many years and we were also privileged to welcome him to Zaaiberg twice as judge of the Highveld Jersey Club Herd Competition. Pierre was a passionate Jersey man! He was always willing to share his knowledge and he always inquired about our herd with genuine interest and with passionate encouragement for us to keep breeding Jersey cows the way we do.

We remember how his eyes welled up while speaking about our heifer group back in 2015, we remember his excitement for Zaaiberg Celebrity Ruth in 2016, the year she became Grand Champion cow. Pierre understood our passion for the Jersey cow and he lived it with us!

He did so much for the Jersey breed and it's people around South Africa and especially in his home region of the Cape. We say thank you Pierre for many years of friendship!
