A big thank you to Tannie Debbie & Uncle Bert Sousa for the care package all the way from the USA, and to Uncle Rudy Reinecke for bringing it over for us!

We really appreciate it. There's a lot more in the package, but these chains ⛓️ and sharpening tools are so important to help with the project and milling planks, its going to make life a lot easier.

Skill saw is too small for these beams so I've been improvising 😅

Tried cutting by hand - too rough. Alaskan mill is better but not 100% straight and Hugo wants it perfect so the deck isn't uneven.

My fix: beam between two logs, plank on top as a straight edge, then chainsaw the edge off. Not perfect, but gives Hugo less to trim later!

Good news is Hugo got the first row of beams on the outer side of the deck 🙌 from the first batch he cut the way he wants, before the skill saw gave problems.

Other than that, busy week cutting and treating new poles - first ones weren't all thick enough.

Clearing along the bottom fence line in front of the glamp site - opening up the view a bit more and making a fire break further down.

Bonus: it's one massive mother tree, so we're getting all our roof beams and a lot of planks from it!
