The 14-day water crisis wasn't just an unlucky breakdown. After analyzing on-site technical reports, municipal updates, and recent inspections at the Showgrounds Pump Station, the evidence shows we are sitting on a ticking time bomb:

🚨 The R500,000 "Fix": The new replacement pump is the wrong type, undersized (6-inch replacing a 10-inch), and running at half the required flow rate.

🚨 Failing Backup Pumps: The remaining pumps feeding our main reservoirs are actively leaking grease, running with broken seals, and nearing total mechanical failure.

🚨 Zero Safety Net: If the current pumps seize, vast parts of Newcastle could face an even bigger shutdown with long lead times for custom repairs.
