Our goats roam freely between veld, planted pasture and forest to browse all day. Then, like clockwork, they appear at the evening camp and are rewarded with a little feed, some salt licks, and a cozy stable. You can set your watch by a goat’s roaming habits!

An update from the farm:

LOW STOCK
With much frustration, you may have noticed that most products are low in stock, or completely sold out - and have been for some time.
What is happening behind the scenes at Bramleigh Farm?

GRASS FED BEEF
With the cold Midlands winters, grass goes dormant, nutritional value drops and grass based production basically stops as nutrition.
Grass fed and finished beef means zero grain. We have to ensure optimum growth during Spring to Autumn, and carefully maintain during Winter. However this year, we have had the excitement of most of our cows calving! YAY! This has meant a drastic reduction in our beef supply but hopefully a more consistent supply in coming years.

PASTURE RAISED EGGS
Eggs are seasonal, and hens are affected by the cold and shorter daylight. However as Spring sets in, laying increases.

GOATS MILK
Milk production depends on the natural rhythm of our goats - kidding, feeding their kids, and having a good nutritious intake to produce beautiful milk. With our small, but growing herd, this means peak production times and very low production times as they head back into pregnancy. The herd is steadily growing, but running a closed herd means we rely on natural breading and rearing.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
Regenerative farming asks us to work with the seasons, the land and the natural rhythms of our animals. Sometimes that means abundance, and sometimes it means waiting a little longer.

We know it’s frustrating when your favourite Bramleigh products aren’t available, and we truly appreciate your patience and continued support as we work towards a more reliable supply.

Thank you for being part of our journey, valuing food with a story, and supporting a slower, more natural way of farming.

Tonight the sun set on a Bramleigh Farm without pigs for the first time in nearly seven years. While we take a break from pigs for a time, we reflect on the huge impact they’ve had on our farm - clearing bramble like nothing else! That has given us the opportunity to actually have open space for laying hens, for finishing cattle, and lush pasture for dairy goats.
From forest edges, to opening up pastures, these tillers on trotters have left a long lasting footprint on us and the land.

Thank you to Collette from Roetz Homeschool for this gorgeous video of our Buckets and Boots morning last time! Read below to find out what we got up to, or join us on Friday 25 September for our next family farm morning.

"What a beautiful morning of hands-on learning, creativity, muddy feet and outdoor adventure!

This special morning marked the completion of our five-week series exploring the five senses, ending with the sense of touch. The children explored different textures, worked with their hands and discovered the beauty of God’s creation through meaningful, sensory play. 🌱☀️

Our Bible-centred lesson reminded the children that God has given us our hands to help, create, serve and do good:

“Establish the work of our hands for us.”
Psalm 90:17 🙏

We encouraged the children to think about all the wonderful ways they can use their hands for good—helping others, sharing, creating, caring and showing kindness.

A heartfelt thank you to Buckets & Boots and Bramleigh Farm for creating such a special experience for our families—and thank you to everyone who joined us!" 🤍
