Part 11 | The Family Farm Cottage

The story of Vogelsang Farm Cottages begins with something far more humble than self-catering accommodation. It begins with people, families and a working farm.

This cottage was once one of 9 original workers’ cottages, home to 36 people over the years, who shared their lives and livelihoods with the rhythm of the farm. 🏡🤎

Vogelsang se selfsorg-akkommodasie is ook 'n monument van vooruitgang. Die gesinne is verskuif na elkeen se eie huis met lopende water en elektrisiteit. 💧⚡🏠

Dit is ’n deel van ons geskiedenis wat ons met trots onthou, omdat ons mense se lewens verander en verbeter het.

The cottages were later thoughtfully transformed into unique self-catering accommodation. But there was one important part of our people's story we never wanted to lose: the people who once called these walls home.

That is why each cottage bears the name of the head of the household who once lived there. It is a deliberate gesture of respect and remembrance; a way of honouring the people who formed part of Vogelsang’s journey, recognising their contribution and preserving their place in the history of the farm. 🌿🤎

Ander word met liefde gevul. 🤎

Flip se Huis is 'n besondere plek waar jy nie net die mooi van ’n ruimte raaksien nie, jy voel dit. ✨

Byna alles in die huis is self gemaak, self herstel of met sorg ’n nuwe lewe gegee. Dit is ’n plek wat gebou is rondom die eenvoudige oortuiging dat iets nie nuut hoef te wees om waardig te wees nie. 🌿

The furniture carries pieces of our family history, from both Denielle Landman and Theo Landman's families. Each piece has its own character, its own marks of time, and its own story to tell. 🪑🤎

The throws were lovingly made by Theo’s mother — adding warmth not only to the rooms, but to the story of the house. 🧶🤍

Die ligte is gemaak van ou konsolflessies wat eens aan Denielle se oumagrootjie behoort het. Wat dekades gelede deel van haar wêreld was, verlig vandag ’n nuwe generasie se herinneringe. ✨

All of the woodwork was made by hand using reclaimed Oregon pine salvaged from old ruins and demolished farm structures. Timber that could easily have been discarded was carefully rescued, worked and transformed into something beautiful and useful again. 🌿🪵

That is the heart of Flip’s House. 🤎

It isn’t about perfection. It is about character, craftsmanship, family and the beauty of reusing what already exists. 🌿

En iewers tussen al hierdie dinge word ’n huis gebore wat meer is as net ’n plek om te bly. 🏡

Dit gaan oor die hande wat gewerk het, die mense wat onthou word, die goed wat bewaar is en die stories wat deur geslagte heen voortleef. 🤎

🌿 From a humble farm home to a place of rest and wander… 🏡

The story of Vogelsang Farm Cottages is rooted in the genesis of the farm itself. Our original farm cottages date back to the 1950s. Simple, unassuming structures that once shaped everyday life on a working farm. 🌾

Today, they remind us that beauty does not always begin with something new. Sometimes, it begins with what is already there - waiting to be restored, reimagined, and given a new purpose. ♻️✨

🍇 Hierdie besondere eenheid lê letterlik in die hartjie van die wingerd, omring deur rye Rooi Muskadel en Grenache.

Daar was ’n tyd toe hier niks anders as grond en stof was nie.
Die landskap het saam met Vogelsang gegroei; van kaal grond tot welige wingerd en florerende boorde, waar elke ry wingerde en elke vrugteboom deel geword het van die plaas se storie. 🍇🌳

Die wingerde vorm vandag deel van die ervaring - van die eerste lig van die vars nuwe oggend 🌅 tot die goue skakerings van die laatmiddagson oor die ver reikende landskappe van Vogelsang. ⛰️

Die uitsig is dus meer as net mooi. Dit is die resultaat van jare se werk, ontwikkeling en rentmeesterskap. 🌿🤎

Hier kom kuier jy nie net vir ’n nag se verblyf nie. 🤍 Jy word deel van die ritme van die plaas. Jy ontwaak met voëlgesang 🐦 en ervaar die eenvoud van ’n plek waar tyd effens stadiger tik. 🌿🏡
