Happy Heritage Day, South Africa 🇿🇦

Today, we celebrate the stories, traditions, and people that have shaped the place we call home, including the heritage we’ve built here at Glen Carlou.

As one of the Cape’s early producers of Chardonnay, dating back to 1988, and with our Grand Classique first crafted in 1989, our heritage is deeply rooted in the wines we make today.

We’re open today as normal for wine tastings and lunch from 10:00–17:00 and look forward to welcoming you!

SIGNATURE DAY IS BACK - 17 OCTOBER 2026

Last year, Glen Carlou Signature Day sold out.

Now, for its second year, we’re opening the doors again for an afternoon dedicated to exceptional wine, good food, art and the stories behind the bottle.

At the heart of Signature Day 2026 are the latest vintages of Gravel Quarry and Quartz Stone, two Glen Carlou wines that have become true heroes of the estate.

In 1988, we became one of the first producers of Chardonnay in the Cape. Today, that pioneering spirit lives on in Quartz Stone; a carefully crafted, naturally fermented Chardonnay that reflects four decades of specialising in the grape.

Rich, luxuriously textured and beautifully structured, it is an expression of the craft we’ve pursued since the very beginning.

Last night we celebrated more than just five exceptional vintages, we celebrated the enduring story of almost four decades of Grand Classique.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our annual Grand Classique evening with Cellarmaster Johnnie Calitz. From lively discussions and shared discoveries to perfectly paired cuisine. We hope you left with a deeper appreciation for the character and journey behind every bottle.

Some of the hardest workers at Glen Carlou don't wear uniforms.

Between the rows of vines, flowering cover crops attract pollinators and beneficial insects, helping to create a balanced, thriving ecosystem. These small moments often go unnoticed, yet they form part of the bigger picture behind every vintage.

Because exceptional wine begins long before it reaches the cellar.

Journey through a guided tasting of exceptional older vintages, enjoy an exclusive first taste of the unreleased 2024 vintage straight from the barrel, and discover the stories that have shaped Grand Classique.

Our restaurant is taking a short pause for annual maintenance from 1–13 July.

While our kitchen is closed during this time, our Tasting Room remains open daily from 10:00–17:00, where you can continue to enjoy tastings and wine purchases.
