New season, new growth 🌱, new viticulturist has now joined (introduction soon). The old wood’s still telling stories but that little green shoot means it’s officially go-time at Doran Vineyards.

Regenerative focussed farming isn’t a buzzword on our farm - it’s the way we work with the land 🍇.

In this clip Ernie, our former viticulturist, breaks down a little of what regenerative farming looks like at Doran Vineyards in our Pinotage block: healthier soils, more biodiversity & vines that reflect the Voor Paardeberg they grow in.

Ernie now moved to a new role, but the philosophy he helped instil is very much still growing here.

PS we promise he isn’t taking a poo in the video 😜.

Big love & an even bigger send-off to Ernie this week.

From the moment he arrived at Doran Vineyards, he regenerated everything we do - the vines, the team, the vibes. Our very own Chief Chicken S**t Evangelist - & honestly, the farm has never looked better for it… we won’t be looking back 🐔 💩.

Every facet of Doran is better because Ernie was here. We’ll miss him, we’ll miss his family & we will definitely miss the dogs 🐶 💚. You are all part of the Doran family.

Ernie - legend, friend, manager extraordinaire, compost connoisseur. Thank you for all you brought & how you left our farm! Go well! We’ll see you soon.

Bottling day at Doran Vineyards

No name, no label… yet. Just wine becoming bottled one at a time - filled, closed & packed by the team who’ve been with this vintage since harvest.

The presentation reveal is coming. For now, we’re just proud of what’s in the bottle.

Training the future, one wire at a time 🌱

Out on our new Sauvignon Blanc block this week, the team’s been hard at work training the young vines to the wire — the first real shaping of what these vines will become. It’s slow, hands-on work, and there’s something special about watching a block take its first steps toward maturity.

This 3.6 hectare block is planted across a fascinating mix of soils — Duplex forms where sandy topsoil gives way to clay below, and pockets of Lithic soil, weathered rock laced with clay. It’s this kind of soil diversity that will give the wine its character in years to come.

Behind it all, our cover crops are doing their quiet work too — building soil health, holding moisture, and keeping the vineyard alive between the rows. With the Paardeberg mountains standing watch in the background, it’s hard to think of a better place to be growing Sauvignon Blanc.

Patient work now for a wine worth waiting for. 🍇⛰️

This is where our wines are actually made.
Not in the vineyard. Not in the cellar. Right here — around a table covered in samples, with a room full of opinions and nobody agreeing on anything.
A blending session is one of the most important — and most chaotic — days in our winemaking calendar. We taste dozens of individual samples: different grape varieties, different barrels, different vintages. Each one on its own tells part of a story. Our job is to figure out which parts belong together.
Some combinations are obvious. Some surprise you completely. Some that seemed perfect last week taste completely different today.
That’s the thing about wine. It’s always changing. Always asking you to pay attention.
The samples you see here will eventually become Arya, Romy D, Honor D and the rest of the Doran Vineyards range. Right now they’re just possibilities — and the conversation about which ones make the cut will go on for hours yet.
We wouldn’t have it any other way.
🍷 The finished wines are available to order online — link in bio.

Words from our guest book that made our whole team smile...
“We had such an amazing time here. It’s so peaceful, just what we needed. This is definitely a hidden gem. We are most definitely coming back. Love it! We also had the pleasure of meeting Tom and understanding where the wine names came from. All round 100/10, see you soon again 🖤🖤”
There’s nothing quite like watching guests connect with the story behind every bottle — each wine at Doran Vineyards carries a piece of our family history, and sharing that over a glass (or three) is one of our favourite parts of hosting.
Thank you to every guest who takes the time to write in our book. It means the world to us. 🍷✨
