Beauty comes from nature. Quality comes from within. Capaia W**es was established in 1997 in Philadelphia, near Cape Town.

Capaia is part of the new Philadelphia w**e-growing region, near Durbanville, and constitutes a “w**e ward” of its own. In 2005, Capaia was declared an estate (in accordance with the Château principle). Capaia’s entire terrain comprises 140 hectares (approximately 350 acres), and extends upwards across the north-east flank of the Olifantskop. It is located about 30 km from Cape Town and 10 km from the Atlantic. On the grounds of a former fruit farm Capaia was created in 1997 by Ingrid Baroness von Essen and Alexander Baron von Essen.

Spring has arrived at Capaia, and everywhere you look, there’s new life on the farm.

Our olive trees are blooming, the next vintage is beginning to form in the vineyards and wildflowers are bringing colour back to the estate.

Our vineyard team is busy suckering the vines and preparing them for the growing season ahead, while four new baby geese have joined us on the farm. Getting all four into one photo is proving to be the real challenge.

A new season. A new vintage in the making. And one of the most beautiful times of the year at Capaia.
