The beauty of the Blushing bride protea lies in the refined detail and beauty that it holds- it doesn’t need the bold and dramatic beauty of the proteas we all love. Although it’s mostly overlooked, the blushing bride has a beautiful backstory, with its name stemming from folklore.

One story said that a young man would offer the flower to his love. The deeper the shade of pink the more imminent the proposal causing his bride-to-be to blush. Another story states that it was custom for a young man to wear a blushing bride flower on his lapel when he was about to propose. The deeper the pink of the flower the deeper his affection for his lady, again resulting in a blushing bride-to-be.

It is undoubtedly a favorite on our farm ❤️

Did you know? Protea gets its name from Proteus, a Greek sea god and the shape-shifting son of Poseidon. In mythology, Proteus could see the past, present, and future… but to avoid sharing his knowledge, he would constantly change form to protect his secrets.

Just like him, the Protea symbolizes:

💪 Courage & Strength
🌈 Diversity & Uniqueness
🔥 Resilience (blooms even after wildfires!)

With over 1,500 species, no two Proteas look quite the same… reminding us that beauty lies in transformation, and that strength often comes from being uniquely ourselves.

This photo was taken the day everything changed for our family.

Hayward, one of the owners, standing on the highest point of the farm overlooking the surrounding farmlands and said “This is it.”
And just like that, at the end of 2022, with no prior knowledge of farming or proteas the Muller family began dreaming of the protea farm that they would build upon- together.
No past experience. Just courage, prayer, and willingness to make it work.
