๐Ÿ’ง | Day 3

Day 3 of Minister Pemmy Majodinaโ€™s Limpopo Water Security Programme focused on accelerating access to reliable and equitable water services, alongside Deputy Minister David Mahlobo, with Capricorn District Municipality Executive Mayor Cllr Mamedupi Teffo showcasing progress in infrastructure development and alternative water solutions.

In Blouberg, the Maokeng and Dilaeneng Water Supply Projects are set to benefit more than 235 households through decentralised, groundwater-based water supply systems.

The engagements also spotlighted groundwater exploration, atmospheric water solutions and innovative technologies, recognising the need to diversify water sources and build resilient systems that can respond to the provinceโ€™s growing water demands.

A key message was the importance of a strong working relationship between Lepelle Northern Water as a Water Services Provider (WSP), municipalities as Water Services Authorities (WSAs), and communities. Water security cannot be achieved by government alone, it requires collective responsibility, efficient water use and communities that actively protect the infrastructure delivering this essential resource.

The Minister also reiterated the serious threat posed by theft and vandalism of water infrastructure, calling on communities to safeguard these projects and report incidents to SAPS.

As the three-day programme concludes, the work continues. The commitment remains unwavering:
