Nematode control in orchards

Morning Stoney, apologies so early. Do you have marigold seeds? Looking for an orchard with nematode problems

The marigold may reduce the nematode problems, but I don't know it for sure.

The only long term cure for nematode problems is Increase of soil Health.

You will benefit in the long term by adding organic material/carbon to the soil.

Best way to increase carbon in soils is to Look at mulch, woodchips, organic acids and grass/grain types of cover crops.

These grass/grain cover crops may compete with your permanent crop in the short term,
but as soon as the soil become microbial active,
due to the added carbon,
there will be more nutrients available, more than enough for the microbes, the cover crops and the orchard.

The short term solutions like using a specific crop like Marigold or mustard etc,
have the same result as chemical treatments for nematodes.

If it kills nematodes,
it will kill beneficial microbes in the soil,
even if it is a biological treatment

It's only a short term solution, with added negative results.

Change the environment that are ideal for nematodes, and they will have little to zero effect on your orchard.

You can't eliminate nematodes,
you can only suppress them by adding microbe diversity to your soil,
that not only remove the damage that nematodes cause,
but also increase the availability of nutrients,
that make your plant more resistant to all other diseases etc.

Excuse the essay,
but this will help you more than just a quick fix.
