Lucasdam Dorpers Lucasdam Dorpers John Daniel Postmasburg. Member of Dorper 21 since 2000. Annual sale February and My father started to farm with Dorpers since the 1950’s.

First commercial and later a stud, mainly to supply himself with flock rams. In 1980 I started to do performance testing with the aim to improve the stud. The stud is mainly offspring of original Lucasdam ewes, however I did aquire a few Cronje old ewes in the late 1980’s and some West Front ewes in the 1990’s. Initially I used Cronje rams. In the 90’s Ron van der Merwe was a great inspiration and

various good West Front rams have made a positive impact on Lucasdam Dorpers since then. Oom Ron taught me something very significant: “First farmable sheep, then show sheep”

In 2007 I aquired a type 5 Alarm son, Shallum, from John Dell with positive results. Lucasdam also has a production sale in February which is going from strength to strength with a growing support base of satisfied customers.
